OPINSTAR Digital Reputation Management
Glossary

GEO, AI visibility and reputation — the key terms, clearly defined.

Every definition stands on its own and answers the question directly — written for people and machine-readable for AI systems.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
GEO is the practice of optimizing for being named and cited inside the answers of AI systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. Unlike classic SEO there are no ten blue links — usually only two to seven sources are cited per answer.
Share of AI Voice
Share of AI Voice measures how often a business is mentioned in AI answers compared to its competitors, across a defined set of relevant questions. It is the AI-era counterpart of the classic marketing Share of Voice.
Citations
Citations are the source references AI systems display in their answers — pointing to websites, review platforms or directories. Businesses with many consistent, trustworthy citations get recommended more often.
Review-Gating
Review gating is the pre-filtering of customers before they review, so that only happy customers are directed to Google. It violates Google's guidelines and EU consumer law and can lead to reviews being removed or profiles suspended.
llms.txt
llms.txt is a text file in the web root that tells AI systems at a glance who is behind a website and which content matters most — similar to robots.txt for crawlers. OPINSTAR runs its own llms.txt at opinstar.com/llms.txt.
Strukturierte Daten (Schema.org / JSON-LD)
Structured data is machine-readable markup in a website's code that tells search engines and AI systems what a piece of content is — a business, a product or a review, for example. It increases the chance of rich results and AI citations.
NAP-Konsistenz
NAP stands for Name, Address, Phone. NAP consistency means these business details are identical everywhere on the web — on your own site, on Google, in directories and on review platforms. Inconsistencies confuse AI systems and weaken local visibility.
Review Diversity (Bewertungsvielfalt)
Review diversity describes a review presence across several independent platforms, not just Google. Industry analyses show that businesses with broad review diversity are cited significantly more often in AI answers.
NFC (Near Field Communication)
NFC is the contactless radio technology also used for mobile payments. With the OPINSTAR stand, a quick tap with a smartphone opens the review form directly — no app, no typing an address.
