Onboarding
1. Browser
We recommend Firefox and Safari as browsers, but the others will of course also work.
2. Pop-ups - Important!
Please make sure that the pop-up blocking for app.opinstar.com is switched off so that you have a flawless experience. You can do this in the settings of your browser.
3. Knowledge Database
If you can’t find what you’re looking for, go to our knowledge base. This is in English, but if you don’t speak English, you have the option of having the page translated into your language. Use the translation function in the input mask of your browser window.
4. Integration Google & Co.
Go to Settings, Integrations and link Google with your Google my Business account. Simply follow the instructions and click Next. Then select your company from the list and click on Integrate. You are now connected.
5. Social Media
Go to Settings, Social and link Facebook. Then enter your brand colors and adjust the text if you wish. You can see the preview on the right.
6. Notifications
Go to Settings, Notifications and enter the two email addresses where you would like to receive your notifications.
7. Web WhatsApp
To send WhatsApp messages, use Web WhatsApp in your browser on your computer (not the desktop app). Make sure that you have switched off the pop-up blocker, then you will be forwarded directly to Web WhatsApp if you want to send a WhatsApp via OpinStar.
8. SMS Dispatch
If you are in Switzerland, Germany or Austria, please select the “Twilio” service and follow the instructions.
9. Introduction to NFC
NFC (Near Field Technology) is a system that is mainly used by Maestro and credit cards. All mobile phones above a certain standard have this technology. It is automatically activated on iPhones and only partially on Android devices.
Position of the NFC scanner:
- iPhone: The NFC scanner is typically located at the top on the back of the device. The function is activated by default.
- Android: The position of the NFC scanner can vary, but is usually located in the center of the back. Make sure to activate the NFC function in the settings before you use it.
- Pro tip: Your customer searches for “NFC” in the settings and can activate it there.
- Pro tip: If the customer has an older model, they can scan the QR code.
10. Free Spell Checker
Install the free LanguageTool extension for your browser. This helps you to check spelling automatically and shows you if there is an error. For our Swiss customers it also shows the German double “ß”, so you can simply replace it with “ss”.

11. Free Language Translation
Download the DeepL extension to translate reviews into languages you don’t know. It also shows possible errors in the translation.

12. Sending mass emails with the request for ratings
1. Create a CSV file with the contact details you want to use for sending mass emails. This is how you proceed:
- Create a file: Use Excel or Google Sheets to create your contact list.
- Add contacts: You can save up to 100 contacts in a file.
- Column A: Enter the names of the contacts in this column, depending on how you address the customer. For “You” enter only the first name, for “You” enter Mr. “Name” or Mrs. + “Name”, for example: Mrs. Müller.
- Column B: Insert the corresponding e-mail addresses here.
- Important note: Do not use a header in the first line. Start directly with the first name in column A and the corresponding e-mail address in column B.
- Save file: Save the file as a CSV file and make sure that it is saved with comma separators.
2. Upload the CSV file to the App:
Follow these steps to upload the CSV file and send bulk emails: – Log in to the app: Open the app.opinstar.com page and log in.
- Navigate to the e-mail area:
- Click on “Request reviews” on the left-hand side.
- Select the “Email” option at the top of the screen.
- Upload CSV file:
- Click on “Upload CSV”.
- Select the prepared CSV file from your computer.
- Checking the data:
- After uploading, the names and e-mail addresses are displayed in two columns.
- Confirm approval:
- Check the box “I have permission to send a message to this person”.
- Send e-mails:
- Click on “Request rating” to send the e-mails.
